Go to the HP website and download a fresh copy of the driver and printing application. The one you have may be corruptI have a hp printer (deskjet f218) and it always fails instillment?
disconnect printer
UNINSTALL it's software
restart PC
RUN installer, and wait till it's looking for the printer before connecting.
Also get the latest drivers from www.hp.com and make sure they are tie right ones for your version of windows
