HP Printer -- Refilling ink question -- Windows Vista?

I have an HP Printer and I just purchased some ink to refill the cartridge in the printer.

The problem is, I still get alerts on my computer that my cartridge is low or almost empty.

Does it not register as being full when you refill a cartridge?HP Printer -- Refilling ink question -- Windows Vista?
No it doesn't. The printer doesn't actually know the ink level of each cartridge. It does identify each cartridge by the computer chip on them and guesses how much ink they have by how much you have used the cartridge.

Their are ways to reset the chips on the cartridges, or you can buy a cartridge with an auto-reset chip. They have these on ebay.

You may want to buy a continuous ink system. I purchased one off of ebay for my HP L7590 and couldn't be happier. The quality is exactly the same as the HP cartridges and you get an enormous amount of ink. These systems come with an auto reset chip. If you write what type of printer you have, I can recommend a good continuous ink system as I researched them before I bought mine.HP Printer -- Refilling ink question -- Windows Vista?
Some newer inks have a chip in it that needs to be reset.

The claim is that they need to ';Expire'; inks so that they do not damage your printer.

So you may need a chip resetter. I didn't think HP followed that practice though. What type of ink do you have?

Also I did have an older Apollo Printer that needed a portion of the contacts taped off for the refill to work.

If you're the type of person to refill their own ink then you may be interested in a continuous ink system
Some ink refill shops may not be informed enough

to tell you if your printer requires a new chip along

with the new cartridge.

HPs have auto-reset chips which you can use

many times with refilled cartridges. You most likely

need that with your refill.

Here is an example for the HP 02 black:

Steps.

1. Check the cartridge, must have expired and you refill?. the printer cannot read the validity of the cartridge, please try another refill cartridge with a valid date.

2. Clean the Golden fingers on the cartridge interface. Before inserting the cartridge with a valid date.

it will work 100%. try this now!.
No, cartridges will not register as full when you refill a cartridge.

Printers are stupid, they have no idea how much ink is in a cartridge, they are simply guessing based upon the electronic signature of the cartridge when first installed.
