I'd go with the HP. It's far more common to find a HP printer in a home setting. If you have any problems you'll find more people that are familiar with a HP printer that a Brother.
Unless you have a brand name relationship with Brother, go with the HPWhich printer is best either HP F4288 or Brother DCP165C?
With the HP you will be replacing those cartridges every 40-70 pages. (#60 cartridges actually only have about 4ml of ink) As opposed to the LC-61 which are 20 ml on the black and 10ml for each color.)
The Brother cartridges will print many more pages, however there are 4 of them. ON the upside it is really easy to find compatible brother cartridges or even have them refilled.
Both printers will break down in 2 years time.
I would go with the brother, more bang for your buck.
I have three HP printers at home, I am by no stretch an HP hater, however the running cost on that HP is just obscene.
Think about it this way $40 for a set of cartridges which will print at most 60 pages.... That is that is $0.66/page.
A set of Brother cartridges will cost you about $60 (less than half that for compatibles) They will print about 300-400 pages. If it only printer 300 pages, your cost is $0.20 per page.
Basically the brother is 3x cheaper to run.
No doubt only ';HP';
