They are actually both from the exact same product line. They take very similar cartridges, however the black cartridge on the 832 as HP sells it is a higher capacity. I would lean more towards the 832C since you are going to get slightly better cartridge value. Other than that they are identical in terms of options and print quality.I havebeen given two older HP printers a Desk Jet 832C and a DJ 842C which would be the newer better printer?
842c will be the ';newer'; of the two. both are pretty similar in terms of function and printing capabilities. find whichever one works the best and keep that one. i think they both take the same cartridges as well. check HP's site if you're looking for hardcore specs on them.I havebeen given two older HP printers a Desk Jet 832C and a DJ 842C which would be the newer better printer?
The one with the higher number
The 842 will be the newer one. HP makes pretty good printers and you should still be able to get drivers.
The DJ842C. But, you might want to make sure you can still get drivers for both. I've found that some models have their drivers available and some don't, and the age of the model doesn't necessarily dictate which one will have drivers available as much as the popularity of the model.
