Hp printer photosmart C4180...can I refill the cartridge myself?
Printer cartridges are sooo expensive..Can I refill the cartridge myself or is it only specific printer that can be refilled. Please advise. I cannot afford the hp ink cartridges. I'm a student so, I cannot afford to pay for even the generic ones.Hp printer photosmart C4180...can I refill the cartridge myself?
Absolutely - I do it with mine all the time, it's very easy indeed. You get your ink refill kit and read the instructions on there for your cartridge number. Sometimes they don't have your number but it is very easy to do. Below is a link to a Youtube on how to refill HP's although that one is for a numer 21, it is the same as yours regarding the hole being in the same place. On the color one when you peel off the label there are like little dents - three of them. There are more than that but three are deeper. Before you use the drill that comes with the kit, get a small nail and hammer it in a small way and then remove. This gives you something to drill into as it can take some force to drill it without a pillot hole. Drill the hole and put an empty syringe needle in and see what colour it picks up and fill with that color. Either wash thoughly the syringe between colors or use different ones for each color. Make sure you do not overfill it as it will leak. You may have problems with the printer recognizing the refilled cartridge but you press continue (I think it's that as I have not got my HP in at the moment I'm using my Canon so I can't get it up to see) when it tells you it does not know how much ink is there. It is easy and cheap to refill them. When filling the colour make sure you do not fill the wrong color as it will ruin the cartridge and everything will print green. I have done this loads even though I'm very used to refilling so it's esaliy done! It will seem tricky at first but when you get the hang of it, it takes minutes. Put about 5ml(black) in on your first try as you can always put in more later. If you do wish to take it to full then inject the ink very slowly and as soon as any ink comes out the hole pull the syringe plunger back until the ink dissapears and take the syringe out as it will be ful - overfill and they leak. Also, do not push the syringe needle in all the way as if it penetrates the sponge at the bottom, the cartridge will be no good and will leak ink every where. The color needs just about 3ml of each color - the same applys to filling them as the black. When the color comes out the hole stop and pull the plunger until the ink dissapears and withdraw the syringe.

I think auto update software for HP printer is messing up my startup. Is this possible? How do I fix this?
Set the software to not automatically check for updates. It should be in the options somewhere.
Why does my HP printer say paper jam and there isn't any? It does this alot.?
There might have been a time when you tore a piece of paper trying to get it unjammed, leaving a small piece of paper still inside your machine. I'd suggest getting a flashlight and checking as best as you can for any traces of paper. If you can't find anything then check the sensor areas of your printer. The sensors are different for each printer but here is an example of what I'm talking about: When paper feeds through the printer it goes past a wheel that is pushed slightly up to let the computer know what stage the printer is at during the print job. Sometimes that wheel gets stuck and you'll need to unstick it or clean lint out from around it. You may need to carefully take apart your printer in order to get to it.
HP's website offers help troubleshooting these issues. That would actually be the best place to start. (See link below) If nothing there or my advice above helps, then call the service number on your manual and actually talk with a technician who works with these printers all the time. Try to get them to give you a new printer for free if they suggest replacing it. Tell them you'll probobaly switch to lexmark or epson since you saw them on sale when you were shopping the other day.Why does my HP printer say paper jam and there isn't any? It does this alot.?
id say have a look to see if there is dirt or if there is something blocking it.Why does my HP printer say paper jam and there isn't any? It does this alot.?
Hard reset your printer by unpluggin all the cables and wait for 2 minutes and connect back, if you still get the same error then you need to delete the pending jobs if any or restart the print spooler.
But I'd say check your supply of paper, it may not be feeding properly. Paper exposed to excessive moisture, or curled edges will cause this. You're not trying to re-use paper are you?
The error is a bit of a red herring. The most likely cause of the error is the paper not feeding. Clean/ replace the pickup/feed rollers and the problem should be resolvedloan

It's the suppor page of HP for your printer. Just choose language, then choose your operating system. You are given choices if you want to download just the driver, or suppor software too.
Goodluck...Bottom shows the full package download but goes up to 300MB in size.Re 2600N HP printer - lost cd and cannot install printer on new computer?

How do I clean a HP 4si laser printer?
right click on my computer icon on your desktop

and unistal itHow do I clean a HP 4si laser printer?
I assume from question that the HP 4si is leaving streaks from the toner? If so generally the tone has a 'flip' door that places the toner onto the charged paper. VERY CAREFULLy using a lint free, cloth you could wipe excess off the drum. Also the diffuser has a cotton wipe bar. That bar is replaceable and will, over time, build up and leave foot-prints too. Replace it (every 10,000 miles..ha.ha). Then in general the longer a print is run the greater the buildup of toner throughout the internals. An over all cleaning would help. Just remember that the toner is NOT nice...it gets on everything and doesn't what to be cleaned. Take your time and be detailed so that when ur done ... all the streaks r gone. How do I clean a HP 4si laser printer?

On a hp laserjet 4 printer, where is the product number located?
Many times on HP printers the product/model number is located under the access cover/door for the toner cartridge on a white or silver label/sticker. Sometimes they may be on the back of the printer near the power plug. Since there are many different models of the LJ 4 series printer (4, 4M, 4L, 4MP, 4V, 4Si, 4MV, 4P, 4+, etc.) I don't know exactly which model you may have. The model number should start with the letter C.
